What a believer should do in times of trouble |
Trials, problems, and crises are part of life. Tribulation is not just a test or punishment for sins, but sometimes it is a mercy. Allah tests those whom He loves through trials and tribulations. Through this, the servant's sins are forgiven and his status with Allah increases.
Narrated by Anas (RA), the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, 'When Allah wants good for a servant, He quickly throws him into trouble in this world. And when He wants evil for someone, He refrains from punishing him for his crime. Then He punishes him in the Hereafter in full.' (Jami' Tirmidhi, Hadith: 2396)
Everything in the life of a believer is beneficial.
Whether it is happiness, peace, or success, or adversity or failure, Narrated by Suhaib (RA), the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, 'The condition of a believer is wonderful. All actions are beneficial for him. No one except a believer can achieve this characteristic.
They are grateful when they receive happiness and peace and patient when they are afflicted with hardship, sorrow, and calamity; both are good for them.' (Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 7390)
believer should do in times of danger
1. Reciting Inna Lillahi:
Reciting Inna Lillahi in times of danger or sudden disaster is a teaching of Islam. With its blessings, Allah Ta'ala frees them from many dangers. Allah Ta'ala says, "Those who, when afflicted with a calamity, say, 'Inna Lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji'un.' These are the ones on whom Allah has bestowed His infinite grace and mercy.
And these are the ones who are guided." (Surah: Al-Baqarah, Verses: 156-157)
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "When one of you is afflicted with a calamity, let him recite: 'Inna Lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji'un.' (Sunan Abu Dawud, Hadith: 3119)
2. Be patient:
Allah Almighty says, urging us to be patient in times of trouble: ‘And We will certainly test you with something of fear, hunger, loss of lives and property, and loss of fruits and crops, but give good news to the patient.’ (Surah: Al-Baqarah, Verse: 155)
Another verse says, ‘Whatever you have will be exhausted, but whatever Allah has will never be exhausted. And as for those who are patient, we will surely give them their due reward for what they used to do.’ (Surah: An-Nahl, Verse: 96)
3. Pray:
The third way to overcome all human problems and crises is prayer. Allah says, ‘O you who believe! Seek help through patience and prayer. Indeed, Allah is with the patient.’ (Surah: Al-Baqarah, verse: 153)
It was a holy habit of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) that whenever he faced a difficult problem, he would start praying. And with the blessings of that, Allah Almighty would remove all his troubles. (Sunan Abu Dawud, Hadith: 1319)
Therefore, it is the duty of the believer to act on the guidance given in the Quran and Hadith in times of trouble.
