This diversity of seasons is a special blessing from Allah Almighty for humans. Especially winter is the best time for believers to get close to Allah. Hazrat Umar (RA) said, ‘Winter is a spoil for the worshippers.’ Winter is such spoils (war prizes) that are acquired without any bloodshed or effort or hardship. Everyone gains this spoils spontaneously without any loss and enjoys it without any effort or hard work.

There is a special reward for worship in winter.

 So that no one neglects to perform ablution in extreme cold, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) spoke about the great reward and virtue of being attentive to ablution and prayer. It was narrated from Abu Hurairah (RA) that the Prophet (PBUH) said, ‘Shall I not tell you about an act that will expiate sins and increase one’s rank?’ The companions said, ‘Of course, O Messenger of Allah! He said, "Performing ablution even if one does not feel like it, going to the mosque with more steps, and waiting for one prayer after another." (Muslim). Performing ablution properly in winter and being careful in washing the ablution parts are especially important deeds. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Three deeds expiate sins: charity, fasting in the summer, and ablution in the winter." (Ad-Dua' lit-Tabarani: 1414). In winter, the days are short and the nights are long. Therefore, if a person wants, he can spend the last night with Tahajjud prayers and dhikr and azkar. Because the last night's du'aa' is a very effective deed. For example, Allah the Almighty, while introducing the people of Paradise in Surah Al-Zariyyah, says, “And they would ask for forgiveness in the last hours of the night.”

Golden opportunity to fast in winter.

 It was narrated from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “Our Lord descends to the lowest heaven every night when the last third of the night remains and says, ‘Whoever calls upon Me, I will answer his supplication. Whoever asks Me, I will give him. Whoever asks Me, I will forgive him.’ Also, there is a golden opportunity to fast in winter. Because the days are short in winter. Therefore, more and more voluntary fasts should be kept in winter. In addition, even if there are missed fasts, it is more suitable to make them up in winter.

Winter is truly a great blessing from Allah.

 It was narrated from Amir ibn Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “Fasting in winter is like the booty of war without any effort.” One of the opportunities to get close to Allah the Almighty in winter is to stand by the helpless people. There are many people around us who cannot afford to buy winter clothes. Those of us who can afford it should help these people who live inhumane lives. This little help of ours can be a source of happiness in their lives. In short, winter is truly a great blessing from Allah Ta'ala for us. May we gain nearness and intimacy with Allah by utilizing this blessing. May Allah Ta'ala grant everyone the ability to gain nearness to Him, Amen.
