The goal of life in the eyes of Islam.

Most people's aim is success in worldly life.

The goal of life in the eyes of Islam.
The goal of life in the eyes of Islam.

It is natural that every person on earth has a goal or purpose. However, its nature may differ.

For example, if a student is asked about his goal and purpose, he will say doctor, engineer, lawyer, scholar, or teacher. If a person who has completed his education is asked the same question, he will say a good job or business. Similarly, in every case, an individual has a goal or purpose. Some people set the goal of becoming a politician, and some people set the goal of becoming a public servant.

Most people's aim is success in worldly life.

While the goal of most people is worldly, the answer of a true believer-Muslim will be that in this temporary life of this world, achieving the pleasure of the great master Allah and attaining paradise on the eve of the great apocalypse in the eternal afterlife and getting freedom from the indescribably difficult hell is the only goal and purpose of life. From the perspective of the hereafter, what should be determined as the main purpose for a person and where the highest success lies. Allah Almighty has made it clear.

Generally, everyone's thoughts and actions are guided by the very short life span of this temporary world. The number of lives guided by the idea of an eternal life in the afterlife is very small. This is evidenced by the fact that the purpose of life is worldly. Not hereafter-based. But in reality, every activity and thought of every believing Muslim should be with eternal life in mind. In that case, it is advisable to stay away from religiously forbidden and immoral acts. However, at present, that position is not very positive. Most of the Muslims in the world are gradually getting involved in activities that contradict the Quran and Sunnah. However, regarding the goal and purpose of a believer's life, Allah Almighty says in the Holy Quran,

Allah Almighty says,

Indeed, Allah has purchased from the believers their lives and their wealth (in exchange) for them is Paradise. They fight in the way of Allah. So they kill and die. There is a true promise in the Torah, the Gospel, and the Quran about this. And who is more fulfilling than Allah in fulfilling His promise? So rejoice in the bargain you have made (with Allah), and that is the great success.

[Surah At-Tawbah, verse 111]

Every believer will take the goal of his life as the goal of religion alone and will sell it to Allah in exchange for the eternal Paradise. They will strive hard to establish religion on earth. For the sake of religion, they will kill and die for it. What greater success can there be than that?

 The true believers will say.

Elsewhere Allah says, the true believers will say,

‘Indeed, I have devoted my face to Him Who created the heavens and the earth, and I am not of the polytheists.’

[Surah Al-An'am, verse 79]

Just as the goal is Allah, so will all his worldly activities be aimed at achieving Allah's pleasure. Those who are true believers will always have the fear of Allah in their hearts and will always strive for the religion.

Allah Almighty says,

The most honored of you in the sight of Allah is the one who is most righteous among you. Indeed, Allah is All-Knowing, All-Aware.

[Surah Al-Hujurat Verse 13]

According to the above verse, the person who fears Allah the most is the one who has concern for the Hereafter.

It is advisable for every believer to be properly aware. And they should guide themselves on the path through which fear of Allah will come. The prerequisite for being a true believer is to be truly God-fearing. Therefore, those who rely on the religion even after a disaster comes and trust in Allah are the true Muslims.

In addition to the Holy Quran, there are numerous narrations in the Hadith about the goals and objectives of the believer.

Narrated by Anas (may Allah be pleased with him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: None of you will be a true believer until I am more beloved to him than his father, his children, and all of mankind.

[Sahih Bukhari 15]

When the world has become too dear to us, the signs of change in goals and objectives have become apparent, faith is not complete, and the perfection of Islam has disappeared. We are gradually rushing towards Western culture. We are on the verge of transgression; we have forgotten the Creator; we have become intoxicated with the greed and lust of the world and have forgotten the eternal Hereafter. We have immersed ourselves in temporary happiness and peace. We are constantly chasing after honor and fame. We have forgotten that I was created from a drop of impure water. These pleasures are for a temporary period, after which we will have to move on to the eternal destination.

The responsibility of man is to worship Allah, the owner of everything in the world. Some people think that the purpose of life is only to acquire wealth, play, fame, and glory, and compete with their children. They enjoy life. In fact, the main purpose of human life is not that. Rather, the main purpose of life is to gain the knowledge of Allah. All those people forget that and are absorbed in the pleasures of this worldly life.

Allah the Almighty says,

Surely you will be tested in your wealth and your lives. And you will certainly hear from those who were given the Book before you and from the polytheists many painful words. And if you are patient and fear Allah, then indeed, it will be a matter of firm determination.

[Surah Al-Imran, Verse 186]

Let us not forget the eternal life of the eternal world by living a temporary life.

Narrated by Abu Hurairah (RA). He said, The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: The world is a prison for the believer and a paradise for the disbeliever.

[Sunan Ibn Majah 4113]

That is, the disbelievers have complete freedom to roam freely. On the other hand, the lives of believers are limited and restricted by religious rules, just as the lives of prisoners in prison are limited and deprived of freedom. Prisoners in prison can never live comfortably, but there is no way to understand this by looking at my lifestyle. This is a prison for us. Therefore, we should abandon the comforts of this temporary life and immerse ourselves in the thoughts of the eternal life. Only then can we hope to be free from that terrible Hell.

Allah the Almighty says,

Whoever desires the life of this world and its splendor, We will give them their reward in full, and they will not be reduced therein.

These are they for whom in the Hereafter there is nothing but the Fire, and whatever they do there will be in vain, and whatever they used to do will be completely null and void.

[Surah Hud, verses 15-16]

A believer cannot desire to stay in this world for a long time. Because by desiring to stay in this world for a long time, various desires and desires will consume him. Since the main purpose of our life is to achieve the pleasure of Allah, all our actions must be in accordance with His command.

Abdullah ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) once took hold of my shoulders and said: Stay in this world as if you were a foreigner or a traveler.

And Ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say, When you reach the evening, do not wait for the morning, and when you reach the morning, do not wait for the evening. Prepare for your illness during your health. And prepare for your death during your life.

[Sahih Bukhari 6416]

people are the losers.

People are constantly leaning towards the world; they are burdened with problems. Allah Almighty warned about this many years ago.

A short Surah of the Holy Quran where Allah Almighty has described it beautifully.

Allah Almighty says,

By time,

Surely, people are the losers.

Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds and urge each other to the truth and urge each other to patience.

[Surah Al-Asr]

The explanation of this verse discusses the life of a believer, along with what qualities they will have. Finally, it must be said that the goal and purpose of every believer's life will be to achieve the pleasure of Allah Almighty in this temporary world by following the restrictions of Islam and achieving freedom from the harsh Hellfire in the eternal life of the Hereafter. May Allah Almighty grant us that success.
